Everyday Cooking Adventures’ Chocolate and Sprinkles Pretzel Rods

I have been waiting to make this recipe again for years! I made it back when I lived in San Francisco for a friend’s baby shower with blue and white sprinkles and dark chocolate. This time around I was throwing a girl baby shower with a princess theme. The mom-to-be loves white chocolate which went perfectly with my white and pink color theme for the event so I used white chocolate chips and pink sprinkles.

It’s really simple to make them, I promise! You can even cut time and microwave the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl at 20 second intervals, stirring between, for about 1-2 minutes. I only let them cool in the refrigerator for 6 hours but they were perfect and fun to look at and delicious to nibble on.

Chocolate and Sprinkles Pretzel Rods “Magic Wands”

Recipe by: Everyday Cooking Adventures, 2015

Hands-On Time: 15 minutes

Resting Time: 6-12 hours

Makes: 24-30 pretzel rods

Ingredients:

  • Two 12 ounce packages of milk, white or dark chocolate chips
  • 24-30 large pretzel rods
  • Sprinkles any color you wish

Directions:

1. Pour about 1/2 cup of water in a medium saucepan and place on stovetop. Place a metal bowl on top of the pan. The bowl must be big enough to sit atop the saucepan but not touch the water. Heat the double boiler over medium-high heat to a low boil.

2. Place the dark or milk chocolate chips in the bowl as the water is heating. Gently stir it with a spatula until melted. Meanwhile, place a piece of parchment paper to cover a large baking sheet.

3. Hold each pretzel rod over the bowl and use a spreader to cover about 1/3 of each rod with chocolate, turning slowly to coat it smoothly. Immediately hold over the parchment paper and sprinkle with the colors of your choice. For a girl baby shower I chose pink. Repeat until all the pretzel rods have been covered.

4. Place the baking sheet in a cool place or a refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours to harden the chocolate. If you refrigerate them make sure to let them warm at room temperature for about an hour before serving.
